Super Adventure Quest - Part 01 - Introduction

For my last semester at DigiPen, I am enrolled in an elective class called GAT 399. The premise behind the class is essentially to do something that you’ve always wanted to do, and use the McCarthy Principles to achieve the goal.

For my project, I had initially wanted to work on a 3D dungeon made out of reusable assets. It was an idea that I toyed around with last semester, but I kept starting it over and never got beyond creating a few assets and throwing it away. As I thought more about my project idea, I wondered why it was that I never got very far with it. It just wasn’t a strong enough candidate on a personal level.

This project was missing a healthy dose of Zelda.

I grew up playing The Legend of Zelda series of games, and they remain my favorite game series to this day. The older top-down style games are the ones that I hold the most dear, and it saddens me that Nintendo does not make Zelda games in that style any more. How great would that be? A Zelda type game with 3D environments, but a top-down sensibility like the old games that I loved when I was a kid. I wanted this to be my project. So I just dove in.

Looks rad. McCarthy protocols sound like grownup montessori school for group projects... Let us know how they end up working out.
